LAUREA will discuss InCITIES at the Sustainability Research and Innovation Congress and Finland’s Sustainability Science Days (SSD)

Laurea InCITIES project team will attend the top sustainability science and innovation event of 2024 (10.-14.6.2024), namely the Sustainability Research and Innovation Congress (SRI) and Finland’s Sustainability Science Days (SSD), organized at University of Helsinki and Aalto University. Laurea team with Sanna Ketonen-Oksi, Piia Tiilikallio, Elina Wainio, and Tiina Wikström will address the topic of higher education learning ecosystems for urban sustainability during an interactive, hybrid roundtable, building on the findings, innovations, and pedagogical solutions co-created in InCITIES – Trailblazing Inclusive, Sustainable and Resilient Cities, a Horizon-Europe-funded project carried out in 2022-2025. 

 

Laurea team will address the key questions of ecosystem-level cooperation promotion for creating new knowledge and practices to solve complex, both local and global challenges as well as applying various pedagogical models and methods for bringing together both current and future researchers and decision-makers. Also, the topics of equal opportunities of sustainability in the higher education (HE) community as well as Inner Development Goals boosting Agenda2030 achievement in HE institutions are discussed, as these also support the development of inclusive, sustainable, and resilient cities.

 

This year, Sustainability Science Days, a joint event of the University of Helsinki and Aalto University is collaborating with the world’s largest Sustainability Research and Innovation Congress SRI. The event will bring together 2,000 experts to solve global sustainability challenges. The event will take place on 10th–14th of June in Helsinki and Espoo. The program includes top speakers, workshops, roundtable discussions, panel discussions, and networking events. Speakers include President Tarja Halonen, economist Kate Raworth, and the former foreign minister of Bolivia, Fernando Huanacun.  

Sustainability, Research and Innovation (SRI) is an international congress to promote sustainable development research and innovation. It is organized together with the host country and sustainability organizations Future Earth and Belmont Forum.
