The goal of the work package “Talent Scout and Career Opportunities Strategy” is to strengthen the attractiveness of researchers’ careers, raise awareness of a research culture at the universities and promote the implementation of the principles of the European Charter for Researchers and the Code of Conduct for the Recruitment of Researchers at the institution. To reach this aim, the InCITIES partners have committed to shape a Human Resources Strategy for Researchers (HRS4R).
In November 2022 the kickoff meeting for the work package took place at TH Köln. 13 participants from the InCITIES consortium came together in presence and virtually. The meeting started with a greeting by TH Köln’s Vice President for Research and Knowledge Transfer and a workshop on the analysis of the principles defined in the European Charter for Researchers and the Code of Conduct for the Recruitment of Researchers (HRS4R). Then TH Köln’s President and several experts of TH Köln working in the context of equality, diversity, inclusion and internationalization joined the group for discussions and sharing best practices in the context of TH Köln’s Human Resources Strategy for Researchers.
The experts from research and administrative areas engaged in the work package drafted a gap analysis for each institution regarding the implementation of the principles of Charter and Code in the four areas: a) Ethical and professional aspects, b) Recruitment and selection, c) Working conditions and d) Training and development by January 2023. The next steps towards creating and implementing a Human Resource Strategy for Researchers, which addresses the defined gaps, were specified by Mai 2023 and over the summer the first InCITIES Partners have started to officially engage in the HRS4R processes as foreseen by the European Commission.
