Carla Tavares is the President of the Municipality of Amadora, since 2013, and President of the Metropolitan Council of Lisbon (Metropolitan Area of Lisbon, AML), 2021-2025. The Metropolitan Council is the deliberative body of the Lisbon Metropolitan Area, made up of the mayors of the 18 municipalities that make up the metropolitan area (Alcochete, Almada, Amadora, Barreiro, Cascais, Lisbon, Loures, Mafra, Moita, Montijo, Odivelas, Oeiras, Palmela, Seixal, Sesimbra, Setúbal, Sintra and Vila Franca de Xira).
