Around 120 researchers, lecturers, students and external experts gathered at :metabolon on 15 May 2025 to explore topics from the fields of circular value creation, sustainable energy generation, artificial intelligence and mobility in lectures, workshops and an entertaining Fame Lab.

In her introductory keynote speech, the President of TH Köln, Prof. Dr. Sylvia Heuchemer, emphasized, “Sustainability and digitalization are two of the central challenges of our time, which must be thought of and designed in a more interconnected way than ever before.”
The designated Vice President for Digitality and Sustainability, Prof. Dr. Christian Wolf, provided greater visibility of the future topics of sustainability and digitalization at TH Köln. In his speech, he emphasized the great potential that lies in the twin transformation.
In various workshops on topics such as “Circular value creation” or “Building and testing plug-in solar devices”, participants were able to actively engage with the topics of the symposium.
In the concluding Fame Lab, nine doctoral students and postdocs from TH Köln presented their current research projects in an entertaining way and with the help of creative tools.
InCITIES and the PIONEER Alliance were represented at the event by Eva Zielasko from the Center for Academic Development and Ture Petersenn, Coordinator of the InCITIES and PIONEER+ projects at TH Köln. They accompanied the event with an information stand on offers, participation opportunities and achievements in both projects, as well as with information on the “Collaborative Online International Learning (COIL)” initiative of TH Köln in the PIONEER Alliance.
