ISCTE – Instituto Universitário de Lisboa organised a key roundtable discussion on “Sustainable, Resilient, and Inclusive Cities” during the Portugal Smart Cities Summit 2025 event (June 3-5). The session brought together leading experts to explore innovative approaches to urban development focused on sustainability, resilience, and inclusivity.
The roundtable, chaired by Catarina Ferreira da Silva, Associate Professor with Habilitation at ISCTE, had the participation of Leão Mendes, Head of Quality, Environment, and Safety at CP – Comboios de Portugal (InCITIES Associated Partner); António Sérgio Pinheiro, Director of Studies and Planning at Transportes Metropolitanos de Lisboa (TML, member of the AML – Lisbon Metropolitan Area, InCITIES Associated Partner); Rita Januário, Innovation Director at the company TUU; and João Guerreiro, Associate Professor with Habilitation at ISCTE.
This roundtable highlighted the critical role of integrated transport systems, cutting-edge innovation, and collaborative planning in shaping future smart cities that meet the social and environmental challenges of today.
ISCTE hosted a stand at the Portugal Smart Cities Summit 2025 to promote the InCITIES project, which had the visit of the ISCTE Vice-Rector for the PIONEER Alliance, Full Professor Helena Carreiras.
