InCITIES UNIZA Winter School Progress

This week, students of the Faculty of Management Science and Informatics at UNIZA continued to implement their projects within the InCITIES Digital Transformation for Inclusive, Sustainable and Resilient Cities Blended Multidisciplinary Training (i.e., InCITIES UNIZA Winter School).

Under the supervision of experienced UNIZA lecturers and experts from the industry, three teams of students work on authentic challenges to increase the inclusiveness, sustainability and resilience of our cities.

Project #1: Data Analysis and Predictions for Public Transport Using Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence Methods

Under the supervision of prof. Ing. Ľuboš Buzna, PhD. (UNIZA) and Ing. Martin Jančura (iTranSyS s.r.o.), this team is using cutting-edge AI tools and methods to improve the public transport system by advanced data analysis and predictions.

Project #2: Design of a Sensor Network for Real-Time Traffic Counting in the City of Žilina

This team, led by Ing. Ivana Brídová, PhD. (UNIZA), Ing. Michal Skuba, PhD. and Ing. Bc. Roman Barčík (IS – Industry Solutions, a.s.), is designing a network of sensors for real-time traffic counting, including the selection of communication protocols, optimum sensor placement and considering different options for supplying power to the network components.

Project #3: Design of an Intelligent Network Architecture for Educational, Research, and Management Processes.

Guided by Ing. Ivana Brídová, PhD. (UNIZA), the students use international standards and state-of-the-art hardware to design an innovative network architecture to streamline academic and management processes. Furthermore, the team strives to promote the use of new technologies in research and education by developing practical demos.
