The final consortium meeting of the InCITIES project was held at the University of Žilina, 8–9 April 2025 bringing together all partners from across Europe to reflect on achievements, share lessons learned, and pave the way for sustainable future collaboration under PIONEER+.
Over two days, representatives from all work packages engaged in rich discussions that highlighted the project’s meaningful contributions to advancing inclusive, sustainable, and resilient (ISR) urban development through innovative educational models and stakeholder-driven interventions.
The event began with a warm welcome by Rector Ján Čelko and an institutional introduction by Vice-Rector Jozef Ristvej, followed by an inspiring session on the sustainability of InCITIES outcomes and how they can be further developed under PIONEER+. Work package presentations throughout both days reflected the collaborative spirit of the project and underlined its multidisciplinary impact, from transformative education and blended learning to inclusive urban mobility and co-creation with stakeholders.
Highlights included:
- Showcasing the success of the BIP pilot courses under WP6, which demonstrated the effectiveness of the Learning by Developing model in real-world urban challenges.
- Key discussions on how to embed InCITIES results into long-term strategies for education and research institutions.
- Fruitful cross-partner collaboration pointing to a strong foundation for PIONEER.
Participants also had the opportunity to connect informally over shared meals and a festive dinner hosted by UNIZA at the Boutique Hotel Dubná Skala, celebrating the friendships and partnerships built throughout the project.
The meeting concluded with closing reflections that captured the enthusiasm and readiness of the consortium to carry forward the InCITIES vision through the PIONEER+ alliance and beyond.
We are all looking forward to the next chapter – together, we are building cities for all!
