On the 18th and 19th November 2024, ISCTE hosted the 1st National Summit for Diversity, Equity and Inclusion. The event was organised by the Portuguese Association for Diversity and Inclusion (APPDI) in conjunction with the Ageas Portugal Group, and with the institutional partnership of ISCTE.
The event aims at promoting human rights literacy, recognising the importance of creating a space for sharing and collective learning, as well as enhancing the place of speech for the voices most active in positive social change in Portugal. Several perspectives were presented throughout the 2 days of the Summit, from integration into the labour market, to organisational practices, the social pillar and the impact of public policies in battling historical and social inequalities, as well as the importance of traditional and digital media. The DEI Summit featured more than 45 speakers, including policymakers, public administration leaders, representatives from academia, civil society and the business sector.
The event was opened by Professor Jorge Costa, Vice-Rector of ISCTE, and also featured a keynote speech by Adriano Rafael Moreira, Secretary of State for Labour, and keynote speech by Pedro Duarte, Minister for Parliamentary Affairs. The full programme of the Summit can be found here.
