https://sdgs.un.org/goalsWith a programme of activities over the course of a week – from September 25th to 28th – ISCTE is joining in with National Sustainability Day, officially marked this year on September 25th. The date is symbolic since it was the day on which the United Nations adopted the Sustainable Development Goals.
The Sustainability Week initiatives will be organized in partnership with the WWF and the Eco.Ap, with ISCTE promoting the various initiatives in the different university campus. This year, the focus will be on sustainable food and consumption.
The initiatives range from Workshops on Sustainable Diets, a Webinar on Resource Efficiency by Everyone for Everyone, a Round table with young people from Generation Earth Portugal on how to reduce food waste, the BioBlitz@Iscte and other activities.
The workshop will take place as part of the Eat4Change project, an international initiative coordinated by the WWF (World Wide Fund For Nature) and promoted by the ANP (Associação Natureza Portugal). The ANP is a Portuguese non-governmental organisation (NGO) that works in association with the WWF to protect biological diversity and national resources, seeking a planet where people can live in harmony with nature.
In the BioBlitz@Iscte, the aim is to measure and record biodiversity on the Cidade Universitária campus in Lisbon and in the Lisbon Botanical Garden by counting the species of birds, lichens, insects, plants and reptiles that exist. This is an initiative organised by ISCTE and the partners of the European Researchers’ Night 2023 – Science for Everyone project among other entities as the BioDiversity4All association and the ISCTE Sustainability and SocioDigital Lab.
At the same time will be also on display at ISCTE buildings the exhibition “The impacts of food production on biodiversity, greenhouse gas emissions, water footprint and deforestation”.
This initiative thematic is close related to the ones addressed within InCITIES WP2, namely on Vulnerability, inclusion, and health in the city.
